We will be maintaining in our files your name, mailing address, phone number and email address. You will be providing this personal information to us when you register, make a purchase, make a donation, sponsor a team or player or when you submit comments or questions to us.
We use information for personal identification for the purposes of your participation in our programs and/or tournaments. All tournament registrants, players and participants hereby grant the NHL Alumni Association, and its charitable partners or corporate sponsors, the right to use your name and likeness, either in print or in photographs, without prior notice or additional compensation, for the purposes of publication, advertising and promotion. Publication, advertising and promotion includes any medium chosen by the NHL Alumni Association, its charitable partners, or corporate sponsors, including, but not limited to, this website, a charitable partner’s website(s), a corporate sponsors’ website(s), newspaper, newsletter, email, television, radio or social media outlets.
We track user traffic patterns throughout our site. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. The NHL Alumni Association does break down overall usage statistics according to a user’s domain name, browser type, and Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user’s browser).
The NHL Alumni Association will maintain an electronic mail list of all registrants, participants, team or player sponsors and donors. We will use that list to notify you about matters regarding current or future tournaments. We may also share that electronic email list with our third party service providers as described in the “Sharing of Information” section below.
The NHL Alumni Association may use any or all of the information we obtain about you to tailor our content to suit your needs and help us and/or potential corporate sponsors better understand our user demographics. In general, we will not share information about individual users with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, or to protect the personal safety of us, our users, or the public. However, we reserve the right the share information about individual users with third parties that help us to administer the website, and those third parties may use such information to contact you with information about current and future tournaments conducted by the NHL Alumni Association and our partner charitable organizations. You will have an opportunity to opt out from future communications as described in the “Opt-Out Policy” section below.
The NHL Alumni Association does not use the information tracking devices known as “cookies”.
We take steps to protect the security of your personal information to try to minimize the risk of loss, misuse, alteration, destruction, or unauthorized access. We use sophisticated security technologies to secure the personal information you submit (e.g., your name, geographical and email addresses, and telephone number). Your submission of information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) technology, which is a coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt data before you send it. To support this technology, users must have an SSL-capable browser. SSL is one of the safest encryption technologies available; however, we cannot guarantee that any electronic transfer of information is totally secure.
We are concerned about the safety of children when they use the internet. We are committed to the identification and elimination of information that is determined to be unsuitable for children’s viewing. Consistent with the terms and conditions of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
We reserve the right to send you communications regarding our program, the tournament and any other information relating to your use of the website, which the NHL Alumni Association, in its sole discretion, deems necessary to communicate to you. You may not opt-out of receiving such communications regarding programs or tournaments for which you have registered. However, we do offer you the ability to opt-out of marketing communications from the NHL Alumni Association relating to other programs or events. You will have the opportunity to opt-out of future marketing communications by following the instructions contained in the email communications you receive.
