Privacy Policy

Your privacy on the internet is of the utmost importance to the NHL Alumni Association (sometimes referred to herein as “we,” “us” or “our”) and we want to make your experience online satisfying and safe. Because we gather certain types of information from and about our users, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information while you are on our website. This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

The NHL Alumni Association will receive and store any information you enter on our website, or give us in any other way that personally identifies you, to improve your experience on the website, and to enable us to contact you should we need to do so. We will be maintaining in our files your name, mailing address, phone number and email address. You will be providing this personal information to us when you register, make a purchase, make a donation, sponsor a team or player or when you submit comments or questions to us.

We use information for personal identification for the purposes of your participation in our programs and/or tournaments. Other instances in which we will use your information include, but are not limited to, verifying your identity; responding to requests for registrations, donations, purchases, comments, or questions; collecting aggregated site-visitation statistics; and notifying you of new information.

We may release any user information as required in order to comply with the law; to enforce or to apply this Privacy Policy; or if we are under the good faith belief that disclosure is necessary or advisable, in our sole discretion, including, but not limited to, protecting the rights, properties, or safety of us or our users.

All tournament registrants, players and participants hereby grant the NHL Alumni Association, and its charitable partners or corporate sponsors, the right to use your name and likeness, either in print or in photographs, without prior notice or additional compensation, for the purposes of publication, advertising and promotion. Publication, advertising and promotion includes any medium chosen by the NHL Alumni Association, its charitable partners, or corporate sponsors, including, but not limited to, this website, a charitable partner’s website(s), a corporate sponsors’ website(s), newspaper, newsletter, email, television, radio or social media outlets.

We track user traffic patterns throughout our site. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. The NHL Alumni Association does break down overall usage statistics according to a user’s domain name, browser type, and Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user’s browser).

The NHL Alumni Association will maintain an electronic mail list of all registrants, participants, team or player sponsors and donors. We will use that list to notify you about matters regarding current or future tournaments. We may also share that electronic email list with our third party service providers as described in the “Sharing of Information” section below.

The NHL Alumni Association may use any or all of the information we obtain about you to tailor our content to suit your needs and help us and/or potential corporate sponsors better understand our user demographics. In general, we will not share information about individual users with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, or to protect the personal safety of us, our users, or the public. However, we reserve the right the share information about individual users with third parties that help us to administer the website, and those third parties may use such information to contact you with information about current and future tournaments conducted by the NHL Alumni Association and our partner charitable organizations. You will have an opportunity to opt out from future communications as described in the “Opt-Out Policy” section below.

The NHL Alumni Association does not use the information tracking devices known as “cookies”.

We take steps to protect the security of your personal information to try to minimize the risk of loss, misuse, alteration, destruction, or unauthorized access. We use sophisticated security technologies to secure the personal information you submit (e.g., your name, geographical and email addresses, and telephone number). Your submission of information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) technology, which is a coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt data before you send it. To support this technology, users must have an SSL-capable browser. SSL is one of the safest encryption technologies available; however, we cannot guarantee that any electronic transfer of information is totally secure.

In the event you provide payment information, the NHL Alumni Association will not receive, process, or store credit card, debit card or account information used. You will be directed through a third party payment processor that will receive, process and store your payment information. That third party payment processor will also use SSL technology to communicate with you; however, the payment processor may have its own terms of use and privacy policy, which you should review. The NHL Alumni Association is not responsible for any loss, misuse, alteration, destruction, or unauthorized access of credit card, debit card or account information you may submit to the payment processor.
